Achillea millefolium 'Lansdorferglut'

The Genus Achillea refers to Achilles, the hero of the Trojan Wars from Greek mythology, and the species millefolium means ‘thousand-leaved’ in reference to the foliage being more intense than other Achillea.

This plant is a semi-evergreen herbaceous perennial that spreads via underground rhizomes. These rhizomes can be divided in the spring and replanted as individuals. They should be planted in an open area situated in full sun with moist but well-drained soil.

The plant in the picture from Beth Chatto's Garden is beautifully situated with the Genista aetnensis tree behind it, highlighting the yellow stamens of this Achillea. The rich colouration of this pink flower eventually fades to cream, however, it will bloom continually throughout the growing season providing a long lasting colour in the garden.
