Rosa - Aphid infestation

This Rosa is a perfect example of a green aphid infestation. Aphids are from the Aphidoidea family, they will suck the insides (sap) out of your plant and excrete honeydew which allows molds to grow on your plants foliage 🌿. Some aphids transmit plant viruses so its best to deal with them as soon as you see them building up in numbers.

Natural predators such as ladybirds 🐞, hover fly larvae, lacewing larvae and parasitic wasps can be attracted to your garden or bought online/in stores.

There are insecticides for aphid colonies but this should be avoided as it will not work on plants that cannot be completely covered in the insecticide such as larger plants/trees & flowering plants as you could kill beneficial pollinating insects. 🐝
