This is a black slug, taken by myself. Despite eating and destroying plants, common slugs also eat decomposing vegetation, making them a vital part of the ecosystem. They are also rather interesting creatures as they are hermaphrodites and can lay 20-100 eggs multiple times every year! To get slug out of your garden you can either; hand-pick them out of the plants, set up a slug beer trap or use slug pellets.
